HEIC2JPG is provided “as is” for general-purpose file conversion. While the tool is built carefully — a real libheif decoder, honest error reporting — we make no warranties of any kind.

About the conversions

• JPG and WebP output is lossy. At high quality settings the result is visually equivalent for photos, but it is a re-encode — not a bit-perfect copy. Keep your original HEIC files if pixel-exact archival matters, or choose PNG for a lossless intermediate.
• Metadata is stripped by design. Conversion runs through a canvas, so EXIF data, GPS coordinates, thumbnails and color profiles do not survive into the output. That’s usually a privacy win; occasionally it’s a loss (e.g. if you needed the capture date in the file — it’s often in the filename anyway).
• Multi-image files (bursts, Live Photo stills) produce a single output: the primary frame.
• Corrupt or exotic HEIC variants may fail to decode — the row will say so rather than produce a broken file silently.

Your responsibilities

• Verify converted output is suitable before deleting originals or submitting files anywhere important.
• Platform compatibility notes on this site (which devices open HEIC, which iOS settings do what) reflect the state of things at publication; software updates change behavior. Check the current documentation of your device for critical workflows.
